e-Learning

We know from experience that people learn differently. Some need to be able to sit in a live instructor led class and participate with others as they take in new content to process it and internalize it.

With the advent of technology, virtual learning has become very popular, and used in place of instructor led training for some topics. However, much of the virtual traning out there is not real e-Learning by definition.

Real e-Learning

Real e-Learning engages the learner directly from beginning to end along the entire learning path with activities, discussion forums, skill check questions etc.

These are deisgned to make sure the learner is understanding the content as well as developing a confidence in it so they will implement it for positive behavior change.

Real e-Learning is more costly to produce but in my experience much more effective for engaging the learner and causing lasting positive behavior change.

Additional Virtual Learning Formats

There is a place for virtual learning that is not by definition real e-Learning.

For example, using video with a set of questions at the end is not a waste of time by any means.

It is a way to present content that can be produced quickly and inexpensively.

e-Learning: Designed and Developed by Jim

Jim has been involved in virtual learning sine the early 80s.

Back when flash was the only way to capture the learners attention while they are sitting in fromt of a computer screen.

For the last few years he has been designing and developing courses using what's called "Rapid Development" authoring.
